Indian American author and wellness figure Deepak Chopra has come under renewed public scrutiny after allegations of him inappropriately approaching a minor.
Artist and entrepreneur Sevda Rubens made the allegation in a post on X, quoting a recent statement by Deepak Chopra addressing his past email exchanges with Jeffrey Epstein.

In her post, Rubens wrote: “When I was 16 years old, I attended a meditation event hosted by Deepak Chopra in Europe. After the event, I lined up to ask him a question about my spiritual practice. He gave me his number and insisted to meet later that night,” she wrote.
“I was alarmed, and my intuition warned not to go, so I didn’t. That was also my wake up call. Male gurus are a construct. Smart girls are real,” she added.

The post circulated widely, drawing close to 2 million views, along with hundreds of replies and quoted responses.
In a follow-up message, Rubens described her situation at the time, saying she had left her parental home at 16, lived independently, and lacked adult supervision. “At 16 I left my parental home, moved into a small attic and worked several jobs to maintain myself. I had zero stability, no adult oversight,” she wrote, adding that she became highly vigilant and instinctively identified certain men as threats.
Rubens, who identifies herself on X as an artist and founder of a hormone intelligence platform, presented the account as a personal turning point rather than a formal accusation of criminal conduct. She did not specify the year, the exact location in Europe, or the name of the event, and no additional details were provided in subsequent posts.
The allegation surfaced amid renewed focus on Chopra following the release of Epstein-related documents, including emails exchanged between the two men from 2016 to 2019.
Rubens had quoted Chopra's tweet, in which he stated, “I want to be clear: I was never involved in, nor did I participate in, any criminal or exploitative conduct. Any contact I had was limited and unrelated to abusive activity.” He also acknowledged what he described as poor judgment in the tone of some emails and expressed regret.
I am deeply saddened by the suffering of the victims in this case, and I unequivocally condemn abuse and exploitation in all forms.

Chopra, 79, a bestselling author known for books on spirituality, meditation, and holistic health, has not publicly responded directly to Rubens’ specific allegation as of Feb. 6.
The account has prompted broader online discussion about power imbalances in spiritual and wellness spaces, particularly involving well-known figures and younger participants. No formal complaint, police report, or legal action has been reported in connection with Rubens’ claims, which remain based on her personal recollection.
