Netflix opens animation hub in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad hub will be Netflix's fifth global AVGC location after Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul, and London.

In a major push to growth of the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comics ecosystem of the country, global content streaming service Netflix announced, on March 12,  the opening of its global production and innovation studio, Eyeline Studios, in Hyderabad, India. 

The announcement event was led by Jeff Shapiro, CEO of Eyeline Studios, and featured top Indian political leaders including Telangana Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy and Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju. Indian actor and film producer Rana Daggubati also attended the event.

The Hyderabad office is earmarked to be the fifth global location for Eyeline, building on the network established in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul and London. As a fully integrated component of Eyeline’s global network, the studio will support high-end visual storytelling for clients worldwide.

Welcoming the Netflix animation studio to his state, Chief Minister Reddy said, “This partnership reflects our shared ambition to build globally relevant creative ecosystems, and I am confident that Eyeline’s presence will further strengthen Hyderabad’s position as a leading hub for film, technology and the AVGC sector.”

He added, “On behalf of the government and the people of Telangana, I look forward to supporting their journey as they create new opportunities for talent and storytelling from Hyderabad to the world.”

Reflecting on the brand’s decision to intensify its India-led creative processes, Eyeline CEO Shapiro said, “India has long played a defining role in global visual effects, not just because of scale, but because of the depth of creative and technical talent here. When we looked at where to establish our presence, Hyderabad stood out immediately.”

Shapiro continued, “It brings together a strong technology backbone, world-class engineering capability, and a film culture that understands ambition.”

In a statement, Netflix noted that the move highlights its positioning of India as a core node in global production pipelines, embedding advanced visual effects, virtual production and next-generation production technology.
