Patel, who is also the past president at Community Oncology Alliance, announced this news on LinkedIn and mentioned that the ceremony will take place on Aug. 14 at the Supreme Court of England in London.

“As I enter the last quarter of my journey, I find myself contemplating what truly matters. This recognition, especially given the distinguished lineage of past recipients including Mother Teresa, serves as a reminder that our greatest legacy lies not in accolades, but in service above self,” read his post.

Patel said that for more than two decades, his work in community oncology has been driven by a simple conviction that every patient, regardless of their location or economic condition, deserves access to world-class cancer care.

He further mentioned that through Carolina Blood and Cancer Care Associates (CBCCA), the Community Oncology Alliance, and initiatives like ‘No One Left Alone,’ he had the opportunity to work alongside like-minded colleagues who shared the same conviction.

Patel dedicated his honor to his team at CBCCA, who serve their rural South Carolina communities, his patients, the healthcare advocates, and policymakers, and the community oncology movement that is fighting to preserve patient-centered care.

He concluded his post on LinkedIn by thanking the NRI Welfare Society for the recognition and wrote,

“Thank you to the NRI Welfare Society for this extraordinary honor. I accept it with humility and renewed commitment to the work ahead. Service above self. Always.”
