The designation is awarded to faculty whose research, education and leadership extend beyond traditional academic disciplines and have broad impact across fields.

Srinivasan has served on the Tepper School faculty since 1999 and was the inaugural holder of the Rohet Tolani Distinguished Professor in International Business term chair. His research focuses on quantitative marketing and the use of data-driven analytical models to understand consumer behavior and market outcomes.

Over the course of his career, Srinivasan has examined topics including pricing, product positioning, market response, crowdsourcing, open-source strategies, explainable artificial intelligence, algorithmic bias and the policy implications of AI.

Carnegie Mellon said his work helps organizations make more effective decisions in competitive environments by applying econometric, statistical and machine-learning methods to both structured and unstructured data. He also holds several patents related to dynamic pricing, online advertising, customer retention and mobile content delivery technologies.

A fellow of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) Society for Marketing Science since 2013, Srinivasan has published more than 70 papers in leading management, marketing and statistical journals.

At Carnegie Mellon, Srinivasan teaches marketing analytics and mentors students in data-driven decision-making. The university said his work has contributed to the growing emphasis on analytics in business education, helping prepare students for increasingly complex and data-rich marketplaces.

His influence also extends through doctoral mentorship. Former students of Srinivasan have gone on to join the faculties of leading institutions, including the University of Chicago, Columbia University, Duke University, Harvard University, the University of Michigan, Northwestern University, New York University, Stanford University, Yale University and the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.

Before joining Carnegie Mellon, he taught at the business schools of the University of Chicago and Stanford University.
