Indian-American physician Sunita Reddy has published her debut novel that explores themes of identity, family relationships and personal challenges faced by women.
Titled “Before We Were Women,” the plot centers on three women, Anita Kumar, Ashley Spady and Robin Zymanski. whose lives are shaped by distinct personal circumstances.
Anita confronts the long-term impact of a teenage pregnancy, Ashley seeks to overcome domestic violence, and Robin, an adopted young woman, searches for answers about her identity and future.

According to a press release, thenarrative follows the characters as they navigate personal decisions and changing relationships while seeking greater understanding of themselves and their circumstances.
Drawing on themes related to women’s experiences, family dynamics and personal growth, the book examines how individual choices and life events influence relationships and identity, emphasizing “reclaiming your voice,” a message that resonates strongly in today’s cultural landscape.
Reddy is an obstetrician and gynecologist practicing in Dayton, Ohio. She earned her medical degree from Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, India, where she graduated as valedictorian of her class and received 13 gold medals during her academic career.
Published by CPR Books, the novel is available in hardcover, paperback and Kindle editions through major booksellers.
