An Indian-origin man living in Canada has left netizens divided after he claimed that life in Canada for a middle-class person is ten times better than that in India.

The Instagram post by a content creator named 'Vishal in Canada' gives a glimpse into the life of an Indian immigrant in Canada. Vishal notes that most people look at the lives of struggling students in Canada and believe that it is the whole picture, without giving life time to settle in and gradually get better.

Vishal starts the video by sharing a glimpse of his neighbourhood, he hails Canada for its calm serenity and contrasts it with Indian metropolitan cities and their noise.

He added that people often complain about high taxes in countries like Canada but fail to realise that the taxes paid in Canada get returned as quality services like roads and hospitals. He alleged that this wasn't the case in India.

Vishal also believes that Canada offers more bang for one's buck, he exemplifies the difference in purchasing power parity and says, "If your cumulative salary is 1 crore for 2 people then at the end of the day, you will live in a 2-bedroom or 3-bedroom apartment where there will be amenities, swimming pool, sauna, etc."

He added, "But in comparison to that, if you talk about purchasing power parity, then in Canada, if you take 80 or 90 and 90 for two people, then you can afford a good house for 170-180. In which there will be 2-3 floors, a basement, 3-4 rooms, your living room will be very big, your environment will be very luxurious."

Saving the best for the last, he highlights two most significant differences that set the two countries apart. In the second part of his two-part post, Vishal noted that while Indians are happy with non-significant things like quick food deliveries, they miss out on true luxuries.

The first real luxury, according to him, is having work-life balance. Unlike Canada, Indian employees are forced to work even after their scheduled working hours, that too without any additional overtime pay. Canadian offices understand that the employee's time after his work hours does not belong to the company.

The second luxury he highlights is quality education for childrens that is free of cost. He remarks that the government even gives you money to the parents until the child becomes 18.

The text overlaid on the clip reads, “A middle class life in Canada is 10x better than that of India.” While some users agreed with the comparison, others rejected it, arguing that quality of life varies greatly and India has its own unique advantages.
