Haridwar- In a landmark moment that bridges ancient Indian wisdom with contemporary healthcare, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on June 27 inaugurated the 'Dadhichi Angdan Sankalp Abhiyan' (Dadhichi Organ Donation Campaign) at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya's Shantikunj campus.

Presided over by Dr. Chinmay Pandya, pro-vice chancellor of DSVV, the programme marks a historic initiative undertaken during the centenary year celebrations of Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Parivar — an organization dedicated to spiritual and social transformation

A Welcome Steeped in Tradition

Upon arrival at the university campus, both ministers were accorded a welcome by Pandya, who presented them with floral garlands and ceremonial scarves (angvastras), reflecting DSVV's deep cultural and spiritual ethos. The dignitaries then proceeded to seek divine blessings at the Pragnyeshwar Mahakal shrine before moving to the main auditorium for the formal campaign launch.

Rekindling an Ancient Spirit

The 'Dadhichi Organ Donation' campaign draws inspiration from Maharishi Dadhichi, the legendary sage who selflessly donated his entire body to humanity's greater good — a timeless symbol of sacrifice and compassion that resonates across millennia.

The initiative seeks to:

  • Awaken consciousness about organ donation across Indian society
  • Honor Maharishi Dadhichi's legacy of selfless service and dedication to collective welfare
  • Mobilize millions of citizens toward life-saving organ donation commitments
  • Transform healthcare access for those awaiting transplants

A Gathering of Purpose

The event drew remarkable attendance from university faculty and administration, representatives of Gayatri Parivar, healthcare professionals, medical educators, elected representatives, and prominent citizens from diverse sectors. Their presence underscored the campaign's pan-societal appeal and urgent mission.

The Vision

In the centenary year of Akhil Vishwa Gayatri Parivar, this campaign represents far more than a health initiative — it is a clarion call to Indians to embrace the ancient principle of "Danam" (giving) in its most profound form. By choosing to donate organs, citizens transform the moment of death into an act of immortal generosity, enabling the blind to see, the weak to walk, and the failing to live.
