The Consulate General of India in Seattle launched its 2026 slate of the India Film Festival series on Jan. 9 with a screening at Shoreline Community College.
The 2012 Hindi film 'English Vinglish,' which starred late Bollywood actress Sridevi, was screened, marking the start of a broader cultural outreach initiative in the Seattle region.
The inaugural event was attended by students, faculty, and members of the local community. Participants were also served Indian food as part of the campus-based program.
The film series is aimed at introducing Indian cinema to younger American audiences and strengthening people-to-people connections between India and the United States. According to the consulate, the initiative is designed to expand familiarity with Indian storytelling and cultural traditions.
