An Indian man residing in Canada shared a video on Instagram that highlighted paan stains inside a Canadian public bus, triggering a debate on Indians’ civic sense and public behaviour.
The viral video, posted on Instagram by a user named Atul, who filmed himself while travelling on a Canadian bus, points out the visible paan or gutkha stains on the floor and sides of the bus.

In the video, Atul claims the stains were not made by any local Canadian commuter but by someone of Indian origin, who consumed such substances and spat inside the vehicle.
While recording the clip, he expresses apparent disappointment and frustration over the situation, and the video text read, “Why Indians why?”
The caption of the video was written in Hindi, which read, “Aisa kyu karte ho yaar?” which translates to “Why do you do this?”
The video captured the attention of netizens, who shared a mix of opinions on the matter.
While some comments were seen criticising the act, some claimed that the stains could have caused by many other nationalities, and this video unfairly singled out Indians.
“Bro just to correct you as an Indian, google it how many countries eat supari or pan, then you will get the answer.. don’t just put down your own country name. I do agree we do lack civility in public. But not in everything,” read one comment.
Some comments also criticized Atul for defaming India with his video.
