Jay Vaingankar, a 28-year-old running for Congress from New Jersey’s 12th Congressional District, has secured an endorsement from the Indian American Impact.

“We’re proud to endorse former White House official Jay Vaingankar for Congress in New Jersey’s 12th District,” the group said on social media, describing Vaingankar as a leading voice in his generation across key issues such as clean energy, health care, and immigration.

Highlighting his Indian American background, Impact noted that he reflects and represents a community that accounts for more than 14 percent of the district. “At a time when our politics needs fresh perspectives and bold leadership, uplifting young voices like his has never been more important.”

The endorsement comes after the AAPI Victory Fund also endorsed Vaingankar last week, calling him “a fearless advocate dedicated to making America more affordable and advancing clean energy.” The group praised his commitment to public service, vision for economic opportunity, climate action, and inclusive representation, and expressed excitement to stand with him to build a future reflecting the nation’s strength and diversity.

Expressing gratitude for the endorsements, Vaingankar reiterated his priorities, which include tackling rising energy costs, expanding healthcare access, and improving public transport. “Your energy bills are skyrocketing, and we're gonna need a lot more energy to fix it,” he said in a campaign video.

Questioning current leadership in the U.S. House, he added, "So where is this energy in Washington now to lower your prices? To stand up for your health care and reproductive rights? To build more housing and to finally fix our trains? To give every family a real shot.”

“It's our politics that's been running on empty, and we're running out of time to fix it.”

Vaingankar launched his bid in Dec. 2025 to succeed retiring Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman in the Democratic primary, aiming to become New Jersey’s first Gen Z and South Asian member of Congress.

He has focused on the cost-of-living crisis, drawing from his background as the son of Indian immigrants in Mercer County and his work implementing the Inflation Reduction Act and renewable energy incentives.
