The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) hosted the USIBC Great States Initiative – Houston Roundtable on June 9, attracting government representatives, local officials, business leaders and member executives to highlight opportunities for collaboration and further unlock the potential of the growing U.S.-India economic corridor.
Organized in collaboration with the Greater Houston Partnership (GHP) and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH), the event marked the second edition of USIBC's Great States series.
The event was also attended by representatives of the Consulate General of India in Houston. Talking about the event, the consulate said on X, "The Consulate extends its appreciation to the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), Greater Houston Partnership (GHP), and the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston (IACCGH) for organizing this important dialogue."
It continued, "Special thanks were conveyed to Ambassador Atul Keshap, president of USIBC, for his leadership in expanding the Great States Initiative, and to Assistant Secretary Paul Kapur for his continued commitment to strengthening the India-U.S. partnership."
Featured speakers included S. Paul Kapur, assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian Affairs at the U.S. Department of State; D.C. Manjunath, consul general of India in Houston; Atul Keshap, president of USIBC and senior vice president for South Asia at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; John Cypher, vice president for international investment and trade at the Greater Houston Partnership; and Jagdip Ahluwalia, executive director of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce of Greater Houston.
Consul General D.C. Manjunath attended the event and delivered special remarks highlighting the growing strategic and economic convergence between India and Texas.

He noted that India's rapid economic growth, strong digital public infrastructure, and ambitious reforms under Viksit Bharat 2047 create a powerful foundation for deeper engagement with Texas' dynamic innovation ecosystem.
The consul general also highlighted the importance of Mission 500 and the shared goal of building resilient, diversified and future-ready supply chains between India and the United States.
Mission 500 refers to the ambitious economic initiative launched by the United States and India to more than double their bilateral trade to $500 billion by 2030.
In the X post, the consulate also highlighted "its readiness to support and facilitate all initiatives that strengthen the India-Texas partnership and deepen commercial, technological, and innovation-driven collaboration across the region."
The Houston Roundtable came months after the series was launched in Atlanta earlier this year.
The program was created to strengthen state-level economic engagement between the United States and India by connecting policymakers, businesses and regional stakeholders across both countries.
