Sept. 14 will mark the beginning of a new phase of exciting sports rivalry between India and Pakistan as the cricket teams of the two traditional rivals and neighbors' clash with each other in their opening game of the Asia Cup in Dubai.
Since both India and Pakistan are sticking to their stand that all their ICC games will be played at a neutral venue, it is not only the Asia Cup for men but also the ICC Women’s World Cup where the two will play each other in Colombo.
After cricket, it is hockey where India-Pakistan encounters are watched with tremendous interest, the world over. Since Pakistan did not come to Rajgir to play in the 2026 World Cup Qualifier Asia Cup in Rajgir in Bihar.
While Pakistan Junior Men are drawn to play in the FIH Hockey World Cup for Junior Men in Chennai and Madurai in November-December, there are still question marks over the men in green shirts to play in Tamil Nadu. In the third game, Australia and New Zealand play each other.
An unprecedented feat!

However, both India and Pakistan junior hockey teams are scheduled to play each other in the 12th edition of the Sultan of Johor Hockey Tournament in October.
In the six-nation Sultan of Johor tournament, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand and Great Britain are other teams. India starts its campaign on October 11 by taking on Great Britain, while Pakistan plays the hosts Malaysia in the second game of the opening day.
It will be on October 14, after a rest day, India takes on Pakistan.
The Sultan of Johor event brings some of the best junior teams. Incidentally, Pakistan has never won this tournament, while India won the title in 2013, 2014 and 2022 while finishing runners-up in the opening edition in 2012 and again in 2015, 2018 and 2019. In the last edition, India got a bronze.
The best performance by Pakistan came in 2018 when it finished as runners-up. It had finished fourth in 2012. 2013 and 2023.
The Sultan of Johor event will be a good warm-up tournament before the FIH Hockey World Cup for Junior Men in Tamil Nadu.
