A cross-section of Indian American leaders, policymakers, and community stakeholders will convene in Raleigh next month for the “North Carolina Dialogue 2026,” an event aimed at strengthening diaspora engagement and highlighting the community’s growing influence in the state.
Organized by India Abroad, the dialogue will be held on May 9, 2026, at the Hindu Society of North Carolina in Raleigh, North Carolina, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The event will feature Morrisville Mayor TJ Cawley as guest of honor, with Ambassador Namgya Khampa, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of India in the United States, delivering the keynote address.

The program will open with a welcome address by HSNC president Parag Dighe, followed by a series of discussions focused on economic growth, public service, and India-U.S. community ties.
The first session, titled Indian Americans Powering North Carolina’s Rising, will bring together panelists including community leader and entrepreneur Satish Garimella, State Senator Jay Chaudhuri, scholar Madhu Sharma, and HSNC Board Chairperson Sajjan Agarwal. The discussion will be moderated by Professor Manesh Pandeya, a visiting professor at Morgan State University and former editor at ITV Network and India Today Group.
A second session will focus on consular services, with Amit Kumar Sharma, a VFS Global CEO for North America, presenting on newly launched VFS facilities in North Carolina. The session will be moderated by Lalit Jha, founder and director of India Abroad.
The event will also feature a keynote session on Building Bridges: Advancing Deeper Embassy–Diaspora Engagement, led by Ambassador Khampa, and moderated by attorney Sejal Mehta.
The program will conclude with a high tea networking session, bringing together officials, speakers, and community members to foster dialogue and collaboration.
Positioned as a platform for conversation and connection, the India Abroad Dialogue series aims to highlight the expanding role of Indian Americans in shaping the america's civic, economic, and cultural landscape while strengthening ties between the diaspora and India. The inaugural session was held in Detroit in December 2025.
