Indian-American filmmaker Geeta Gandbhir has been nominated at the 2026 BAFTA Film Awards in the Documentary category for her film ‘The Perfect Neighbor.’

The nomination, announced on Jan. 27, comes after two Oscar nods for Gandbhir were announced earlier this month. The awards ceremony will be held on Feb. 22 in London.

The BAFTA nominees list also included Manipuri-language children’s film 'Boong,' directed by Indian filmmaker Lakshmipriya Devi.  The film was nominated for Best Children’s and Family Film.

Produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment, 'Boong' is the only Indian film nominated at the 2026 BAFTAs, marking a rare entry from India’s northeast in the family film category.

The BAFTA Film Awards are presented annually by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, an independent charity that recognizes excellence in film, television, and games.

Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in global cinema, the awards are often seen as a key indicator ahead of the Academy Awards.
