Fans mark Amitabh Bachchan’s 83rd birthday in New Jersey

Hundreds gathered in Edison for celebrations honoring the Bollywood icon’s global legacy.

Hundreds of fans from across the United States gathered in Edison, New Jersey, on Oct. 10 to celebrate the 83rd birthday of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan at his life-size statue, which has become a major attraction for the Indian diaspora community.

The event, sponsored by Albert Jasani of Albert Jasani Resort, featured a ceremonial cake cutting and live performances of Bachchan’s iconic film dialogues, songs, and dance sequences.

Fans of all ages participated, transforming the quiet neighborhood into a festive celebration of one of India’s most enduring cinematic figures.

The statue, depicting Bachchan in his trademark 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' pose, was crafted in Rajasthan, India, and later shipped to the U.S. as a fan tribute. It has since evolved into a local cultural landmark, drawing visitors daily from around the world.

The Seth family, who commissioned and installed the statue in front of their home, opened their property to fans for the celebration. Members of the 'BigB Fan Club' and 'BigB Efamily' traveled from several states to attend, underscoring Bachchan’s lasting appeal across generations.

“The enthusiasm of fans continues to grow,” said one attendee. “We never imagined it would become this popular. People visit every day to celebrate Amitji’s legacy and take pictures with the statue.”

Now in his eighth decade, Bachchan remains one of India’s most recognizable film personalities, with a career spanning more than five decades across cinema, television, and philanthropy. The Edison statue has become a focal point for admirers who continue to celebrate his influence on global Indian culture.
