Eboo Patel, the founder and president of Interfaith America, has been recognized for the third consecutive year in The NonProfit Times' annual Power & Influence Top 50 list.
The recognition comes as Patel continues to advance pluralism as a framework for civic life in the United States. His work through Interfaith America positions pluralism as a civic strategy, aimed at bridging divides in an era of political and social polarization.

Patel’s forthcoming book on pluralism and the organization’s national initiatives have contributed to his standing as a leading voice on the issue.
“Pluralism is the best of American ideals on display. It enables people of different racial, religious, and political affinities to recognize each other's full identities, collaborate toward shared goals, and strive for excellence together,” Patel said in a statement.
Two close collaborators of Interfaith America were also included in this year’s Top 50 list — Jennifer Hoos Rothberg, executive director of the Einhorn Collaborative, and Jonathan Reckford, CEO of Habitat for Humanity International.
The honorees will be recognized at the 20th annual NPT Power & Influence Top 50 Gala at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
Research by the nonprofit More in Common has found that while 70 percent of Americans want to connect across differences, only 40 percent do so regularly. Interfaith America and its partners aim to address this gap by creating opportunities for dialogue and cooperation across religious, racial, and political divides.
Patel, an American Ismaili of Gujarati Indian heritage, established Interfaith America — initially called Interfaith Youth Core — in 2002. The Chicago-based nonprofit has grown into a national organization promoting interfaith cooperation. He was previously a member of President Barack Obama’s inaugural Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships.
