Chevron India head Akshay Sahni joins USIBC global board
Sahni joins the USIBC global board as the council seeks to deepen bilateral cooperation across key sectors of the economy.

The U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) appointed Akshay Sahni, country head of Chevron India, to its global board of directors on July 2.
Announcing the appointment on social media, USIBC said Sahni's leadership would help deepen collaboration across energy, trade, investment and market access within the U.S.-India economic partnership.

In a statement shared by USIBC, Sahni said, "I look forward to representing Chevron and working with the USIBC global board to further strengthen connections and advance ongoing collaboration across energy, technology, innovation, and talent development."

Sahni has served as country head of Chevron India since September 2024, overseeing the company's operations in India from Bengaluru. Before taking on the role, he was General Manager for Strategy and Technology at Chevron Technology Ventures in Houston, where he led enterprise technology strategy spanning digital transformation, sustainability and low-carbon technologies, including carbon capture, hydrogen, renewable energy and energy storage.
During his 28-year career with Chevron, Sahni has held leadership positions across the United States and Asia, including assignments in Bangladesh, Thailand, Kazakhstan and Venezuela.
His previous roles have included general manager of technology and Business Services for Chevron's Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, Director of Asset Development for Chevron Bangladesh, and General Manager for Strategy and Planning in South Asia.
Sahni holds a Ph.D. in Energy Resources Engineering from Stanford University, an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, a master's degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, and a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College.
