CGI New York hosts India-U.S. buyer-seller virtual meet

The attendees highlighted the importance of this digital initiative and the emerging opportunities it offers for cross-border growth of Indian sellers in the U.S. market.

The Consulate General of India in New York collaborated with the Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC) to organize the first Virtual Exhibition and Buyer-Seller Meet on the India-U.S. Trade Facilitation Portal, bringing together Indian textile exporters and American importers on June 29.

The virtual event featured participation from 22 Indian textile and apparel exporters and 40 U.S. importers, providing a digital platform to strengthen bilateral trade and business engagement.

The event was also attended by Binaya Pradhan, Consul General of India in New York; Dr. Ajay Kumar, Minister (Commerce), Embassy of India, Washington, D.C.; and Padma Shri Dr. A. Sakthivel, Chairman, AEPC.

The attendees highlighted the importance of this digital initiative and the emerging opportunities it offers for cross-border growth of Indian sellers in the U.S. market.

During the exhibition, exhibitors showcased their products through virtual booths and held live one-on-one discussions with potential buyers, enabling direct business interactions and exploring new trade opportunities.

The initiative reflects ongoing efforts by the Consulate and AEPC to promote Indian textile and apparel exports in the U.S. market by leveraging digital platforms to facilitate international business connections.

The Consulate noted that the event was the result of AEPC coordinating with Indian exporters for their participation in the exhibition and that the first Virtual Exhibition and Buyer-Seller Meet marks an important step toward deepening India-U.S. trade ties and empowering Indian exporters to expand their global reach.
