A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for 24-year-old Amarbir Singh, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the 2024 death of his partner, Navdeep Kaur.

Singh is wanted in connection with the killing, which investigators say occurred in Surrey, British Columbia.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that Singh was formally charged on March 6, more than two years after Kaur, 28, was reported missing in Surrey, British Columbia. Investigators said Kaur was last seen alive on Feb. 22, 2024, around 10:30 p.m. in the 7800 block of 123 Street in Surrey.

The case was initially investigated as a missing person report by Surrey Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) before the IHIT took over the investigation in March 2024. On July 23, 2024, human remains were discovered near the Fraser River and were later confirmed through forensic analysis to be those of Kaur, prompting authorities to reclassify the case as a homicide and begin a murder investigation.

Investigators identified Singh, who was in a relationship with Kaur at the time of her disappearance, as the primary suspect. Police said evidence gathered from several crime scenes and a reconstructed timeline of events supported the second-degree murder charge.

Sgt. Freda Fong, spokesperson for the IHIT, said investigators believe Singh left Canada soon after the incident. “We are aware that Mr. Singh may have fled the country, but that will not stop us from pursuing him,” Fong said, adding that investigators remain committed to locating him and bringing him before the courts.

Fong said the homicide unit will coordinate with domestic and international law enforcement agencies as necessary to find Singh and ensure he faces the charge.

Authorities said the investigation remains active, with detectives continuing to follow leads and review evidence. Police have not released further details about the circumstances surrounding Kaur’s death, the precise location where her remains were found, or the specific evidence linking Singh to the crime because the investigation is ongoing.

The Canada-wide warrant authorizes Singh’s arrest anywhere in the country. If he is located outside Canada, authorities said extradition proceedings could follow depending on his location and relevant legal agreements.
