Megha Rao, a seasoned practitioner of Bharatanatyam, will present a performance at the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday, October 21.
The event, part of the University’s Walton Arts & Ideas Series, is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Seay Theatre in the Walton Fine Arts Center. Admission is free and open to the public.
With more than two decades of experience as both a performer and a teacher, Rao is a graded Doordarshan artist and has been featured on the Arkansas Arts On Tour and Arts In Education Rosters. She was recently awarded a grant by Artists 360, a program of the Mid-America Arts Alliance, to support her production ‘Baala – Tale of Kanha.’
As artistic director of the Bentonville-based Dhirana Academy of Classical Dance, Rao trains more than 100 students annually in Bharatanatyam. She also collaborates with schools and community organizations to expand awareness of the classical art form, often working across music and performing arts genres while staying rooted in tradition.
