Indian playback singer Arijit Singh’s concert in London ended abruptly on Sept.7 night after stadium management cut the power when the event ran past the permitted curfew. Singh was performing Saiyaara, the reprised title track originally sung by Faheem Abdullah, when the interruption occurred.

Clips circulating on social media show the audience singing along as Singh continued the track, before the sound was cut off at 10:30 pm. According to reports, this was the official curfew time set by local authorities. The singer was unable to complete the performance or formally address his audience before leaving the stage.

An Instagram account, @thewhatup, shared the video with the caption, “London stadium allegedly cut power at Arijit Singh's show without letting him say goodbye or finishing the song due to curfew time of 10:30 pm. Meanwhile, the video of him singing Saiyaara at the concert is trending.”

The move divided opinion online. Some fans expressed disappointment at the abrupt ending, while others defended the decision. One user commented, “Respect for the people who take time damn seriously.” Another wrote, “Wish India took curfew times this seriously too.” A third person added, “Noise pollution is taken seriously in UK, which includes people reporting for any violation past the curfew time. Arijit also came late to the venue, one of the reasons for delayed end.”

The incident comes shortly after Singh’s rise to international prominence. In July, he became the most-followed artist on Spotify, surpassing Taylor Swift. Earlier in June, he collaborated with British singer Ed Sheeran on Sapphire, a track that featured actor Shah Rukh Khan and gained widespread attention.

While Singh has not issued a statement on the London show, the episode has added to the ongoing discussion around how strictly enforced noise curfews shape live performances in the United Kingdom.
