Drexel University has announced Indian-American biomedical engineering student Sanjna Srinivasan as president of the Undergraduate Student Government Association (USGA) for the 2025–26 academic year.

Srinivasan, who was elected at the end of the spring quarter, will serve alongside newly elected vice president Lucy Nightingale.

A class of 2027 student, Srinivasan’s appointment comes at a time of institutional transformation, with the University implementing academic and administrative changes.
She views this moment as both a challenge and an opportunity. “I think coming in right now with all the changes happening at the University offers us a unique opportunity to take advantage of the change and find avenues to influence it where we can,” she said.

Srinivasan has previously taken up various leadership roles at USGA. She first joined the Student Life Committee as a freshman, then rose to vice chair and chair before stepping into her current role. “My time in USGA has been very student-life oriented, doing anything we can to enhance and improve the student experience,” she explained.

Beyond student government, Srinivasan is a resident assistant at Kelly Hall, a student ambassador who supports incoming students, and a biomedical researcher already engaged in her master’s work. These experiences, she says, inform her focus on building stronger communication, transparency, and partnerships with Drexel students and administrators.

Among her goals is expanding collaboration with the Philly Student Government Association (PSGA), a student-run alliance across universities. “It shows the passion that all of these student leaders have. We talk about what our universities are up to, and connections that all of us have and how we can take advantage of that and use it to get to know each other better,” she noted.

As president, Srinivasan hopes to serve as a bridge between students and decision-makers, ensuring that undergraduate voices are central to Drexel’s evolving future.
