Delaware Governor signs Holi resolution

The state highlighted the cultural heritage and contributions of the Hindu community.

Delaware Governor Matthew Meyer signed a proclamation recognising Holi and recognizing the contributions of the Consul General of India to New York Binaya Srikanta Pradhan.

The resolution described the festival of Holi as a "cherished celebration marking the arrival of spring and symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, renewal of spirit, and the enduring power of unity and joy."

Making the Holi celebration official, the proclamation read, "Therefore, I, Matthew Meyer, Governor, do hereby proclaim March 4, 2026 as HOLI in the State of Delaware, and extend warmest greetings to all who observe Holi and express heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable contributions of our Hindu community."

The state also highlighted the cultural heritage and contributions of the Hindu community and noted that the community's traditions and values continue to strengthen the social and cultural fabric of the state.

Additionally, the proclamation hailed Ambassador Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, for his leadership and his efforts to "strengthen cultural, educational, and economic ties" between India and Delaware.

It noted, "Ambassador Pradhan’s dedication to fostering collaboration and supporting the Indian diaspora has deepened the bonds of friendship and mutual respect between Delaware and the global Indian community."

The proclamation was handed over to Amb. Pradhan by the Secretary of State of Delaware Charuni Patibanda-Sanchez.
