An Indian American scholar is seeking to broaden global understanding of Jainism through a comprehensive compilation documenting the religion's influence on mathematics, science, language, literature, philosophy, trade, architecture and ethics.
Published by Motilal Banarsidass Publishing House, Significant Contributions of Jainism (Volume 1), brings together scholars from India and several other countries to present Jainism as a living intellectual and civilizational tradition rather than one defined solely by non-violence and vegetarianism. The publication is available in hardcover, paperback and Kindle editions.
In an interview with New India Abroad, the book’s editor Dhruti Ghiya Rathi said the project was inspired by the widespread lack of awareness about one of the world's oldest living religions.
