Chitkara University to host India’s first-ever Ivy League Model UN Conference

Chitkara University, in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania and Big Red Education, is set to host India’s first-ever Ivy League Model United Nations Conference - ILMUNC India 2025. The conference, which will be a three-day residential experience for high school students from Grades 8 to 12, is scheduled to take place from Aug. 8 to 10.

ILMUNC India 2025 will be held on Chitkara University’s campus near Chandigarh. It will draw about 1,500 of India’s brightest minds. They will be guided by a delegation of 11 student mentors from the University of Pennsylvania.

According to an official statement by Chitkara University, the upcoming conference is designed to foster leadership, cross-cultural engagement, and critical thinking. It will create an unmatched academic environment that blends rigour with inspiration.

Thomas Urey, Secretary-General, ILMUNC India ’25, stated in a letter that they have held conferences in Philadelphia, Vietnam, China, and Peru, and are thrilled to expand their legacy to India. “This marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that will shape the future of ILMUNC India and beyond,” he said.

Urey added that the conference is about learning, growing, and becoming the leaders of tomorrow.
