The UK India Future Forum (UKIFF) and the US-India Strategic Forum have welcomed the signing of the bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the United Kingdom and India.

The organizations called it a transformative moment for both nations and a model of international economic cooperation.

Manoj Ladwa, founder and chairman of UKIFF, praised the leadership of Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Keir Starmer and the efforts of their respective negotiation teams.

“This agreement represents a significant milestone in UK–India relations, underscoring the potential of our partnership and the opportunities that lie ahead. It is a testament to what can be achieved when diplomacy, pragmatism, and partnership come together with purpose, and of course, it is proof that democracies work best when democracies work together,” Ladwa said.

The UK India Future Forum, a dedicated initiative within the India Global Forum, focuses specifically on strengthening UK–India relations through strategic collaboration, business exchange, and policymaker engagement.

In support of the agreement, IGF announced that its upcoming flagship event, IGF London 2025, scheduled for June 16–20, will serve as the major platform to celebrate this achievement.

The U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) also congratulated the UK and Indian governments on the milestone and shared optimism for the trade deal with the United States.

“This milestone reflects a shared commitment to strengthening economic ties and fostering inclusive growth,” the forum said. “As India broadens its global trade engagements, USISPF remains optimistic about progress in U.S.-India trade negotiations on a Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA).”

“We encourage continued momentum toward a comprehensive agreement that will unlock new avenues for investment, deepen economic relations, and enhance people-to-people ties,” their statement added.

The agreement, signed a decade after Prime Minister Modi’s first bilateral visit to the UK, marks a new chapter in India’s evolving global trade landscape and exemplifies the role of democratic cooperation in shaping resilient economic futures.

The FTA, announced by UK Trade Minister Jonathan Reynolds and India’s Minister of Commerce Piyush Goyal, represents one of the most significant bilateral trade achievements. The agreement aims to boost bilateral trade, encourage innovation, and enhance cultural ties.
