The highly-anticipated debut of 'India Weekend' in New York City organized by The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) has been indefinitely postponed, weeks before its previously announced Sept. 12 opening date.

Scheduled to be hosted at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts from Sept 12-14, the event promised to be a celebration of Indian heritage.

Touted as NMACC's first international showcase that would blend tradition and innovation across music, dance, theatre, cuisine, and fashion, the event boasted of listings like the US premiere of 'The Great Indian Musical: Civilization to Nation', India’s largest theatrical production, featuring over 100 performers. The event also boasted of an immersive culinary experience by Chef Vikas Khanna, the Great Indian Bazaar, featuring artisan textiles, dance, yoga sessions and performances by singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Shreya Ghoshal, Parthiv Gohil, and Rishab Sharma.

Announcing the news, NMACC said in a statement, "It is with deep regret that we share that the NMACC India Weekend in New York, scheduled to open on September 12, 2025, has been postponed due to unforeseen circumstances."

Sharing dismay of the last-minute postponement, Nita Ambani, the Founder & Chairperson of NMACC noted, "The NMACC India Weekend is a dream very close to my heart – a celebration of Indian culture on the global stage. This is not a cancellation, only a pause, and we remain fully committed to bringing the NMACC experience to New York at a later date."

She added, "I am deeply grateful to every artist, guest, sponsor, partner, well-wisher, and all the friends of NMACC for their trust and continued support. NMACC remains dedicated to our vision of bringing the best of the world to India and showcasing the best of India to the world. We will return with renewed joy, pride, and purpose."

The organizers have assured ticket-holders that they will receive a full refund on the ticket, however, no reason for the postponement has been specified by NMACC.
