AIA to organize annual Deepavali Festival in Long Island

The event will feature a fireworks show, Ramayana Musical Live Dance Drama and a fashion show, among other attractions

Association of Indians in America (AIA) New York chapter is organizing its 38th Deepavali Festival on Oct. 11 at Overlook Beach on Long Island's south shore.

The AIA Deepavali Festival promises an exciting lineup of events that highlight the community's rich culture and heritage to entertain and engage the entire family, from kids to seniors.

The organizers asserted that the fireworks show, scheduled for 7 P.M. would be the day's biggest attraction. The event will also feature the presentation of a Ramayana Musical Live Dance Drama.

Other cultural events including Indian classical and folk dances, a Fashion Show by Prashant Goyal and a surprise Bollywood star appearance will serve as key attractions to the Festival.

To engage each member of the family, age specific activities have also been scheduled. A Kids Corner will be set up, offering games and other fun activities, including henna painting. Adults can head out to the Health and Wellness Zone and take free Yoga and Zumba sessions.

Many lawmakers, dignitaries, including the Consul General of India in New York, Binaya Srikanta Pradhan, and celebrities will grace the festivities.  

The event is free-to-attend, however, people can still purchase tickets for the VIP dinner, which will be held in a private area before the fireworks. Additionally, attendees can purchase raffle tickets and potentially win exciting grand prizes.

AIA-NY President Beena Kothari has a history of successfully organizing major community events, such as the India Day Parade in Hicksville.
