Indian-origin duo join Australia pathway squads
Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma earn selections for separate Cricket Australia development programs.

Indian-origin cricketers Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma have been named in separate Cricket Australia pathway squads, earning opportunities to feature in key development programs ahead of Australia's upcoming international assignments.
According to Cricket Australia, Wadia has been selected in the Cricket Australia XI squad that will face Bangladesh in a three-day tour match in Darwin from Aug. 6 to 8, ahead of Bangladesh's two-Test series against Australia.

The governing body named a 14-player squad for the red-ball fixture at Marrara Cricket Ground. The match will be played as a 13-a-side contest and will not carry first-class status.
The squad includes Campbell Kellaway, Campbell Thompson, Corey Rocchiccioli, Hanno Jacobs, Jake Doran, Jerrssis Wadia, Josh Philippe, Kurtis Patterson, Sam Konstas, Teague Wyllie, Tom Menzies, Tom Rogers, Xavier Crone and Noah McFadyen.
According to reports, former Australia coach Tim Nielsen will oversee the Cricket Australia XI during the Darwin fixture.
Wadia, who was born in Mumbai in 2001, represented Baroda at the Under-16 and Under-19 levels before relocating to Adelaide as a teenager.
His Cricket Australia player profile states that his parents continue to live in Mumbai. After joining the Adelaide Strikers Under-19 program before the COVID-19 pandemic, he returned to South Australian Premier Cricket once competitions resumed.
Wadia made his Big Bash League debut for the Adelaide Strikers in December 2025 and attracted attention after hitting three consecutive sixes during only his second appearance.
Meanwhile, Victorian all-rounder Aryan Sharma has been selected in Australia's Men's Development Squad for the MRF Academy Program in Chennai.
According to Cricket Australia, Sharma is among a 12-player touring group that will work under Australia A coach Tim Paine and coach Anthony Clark as part of the development program.
Selectors identified Sharma's left-arm spin as an important asset as Australia continues building depth in its spin-bowling resources for future tours in Asia.
Sharma has previously represented Australia at the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup and featured for the Melbourne Stars during the most recent Big Bash League season.
Cricket Australia said the MRF Academy program is designed to provide emerging players with exposure to subcontinental playing conditions and high-performance coaching.
While the Bangladesh tour begins with the Cricket Australia XI fixture in Darwin before the senior Test series, Sharma's development squad assignment is a separate program aimed at preparing the country's next generation of international cricketers.
Neither Cricket Australia nor the available reports provided details about Wadia's or Sharma's citizenship or immigration status.
