  • Republican Congresswoman proposes bill to end H-1B visa program

Republican Congresswoman proposes bill to end H-1B visa program

November 2025 181 views 1:17

Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has introduced a bill to eliminate the H-1B visa program, claiming it has led to the “mass replacement of American workers.” The announcement comes just days after former President Donald Trump said the U.S. needs “talented people” from abroad — a statement that sparked backlash among his MAGA base.

Greene’s bill would end the pathway to citizenship for H-1B holders, force professionals to return home after their visa expires, and restrict foreign doctors from entering Medicare-funded residency programs. The proposal includes a temporary exemption of 10,000 medical visas per year for 10 years.

While Greene argues this will prioritize American workers and medical graduates, critics warn it could hurt the U.S. economy, healthcare system, and innovation sector.
