Indian Supplier Pleads Guilty in U.S. Fentanyl Case

April 2026 92 views 1:26

An Indian chemical company executive, Bhavesh Lathiya, has pleaded guilty in a U.S. federal court for supplying fentanyl precursor chemicals. Prosecutors say he used false labels and customs declarations to conceal shipments sent to the United States and Mexico. The case, heard in Brooklyn, marks the first felony conviction of an India-based supplier in a fentanyl-related case. U.S. authorities say the move is part of a broader crackdown on global drug supply chains fueling the opioid crisis.
