Indian American executive Priyanaka Deo was honored by the Illinois Department of Central Management Services during Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month for her work in Illinois state government.
In a social media post published , the department recognized Deo, an ‘Operational Excellence Manager,’ and highlighted her role in improving processes across Illinois government operations.
The Illinois Department of Central Management Services said Deo’s leadership helps “drive continuous improvement across Illinois state government.”

The agency described Deo as bringing “a powerful cross-cultural perspective shaped by her roots in India and the United States.” It added that she applies “discipline, adaptability, and accountability to strengthen processes and deliver measurable results for Illinois residents.”
The department also shared Deo’s advice for others working in public service.
“Embrace your unique perspective, lead with initiative, and turn insight into action that moves work forward,” the post said.
Deo later responded to the recognition in a separate statement posted online.
“Proud to serve the people of Illinois as an Indian American in state government,” Deo said.
She also thanked the State of Illinois for recognizing her work.
“Grateful to @STIllinois for the feature and for highlighting the work being done across operational excellence and government transformation,” she said.
The recognition was part of the department’s observance of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, which is marked annually in May across the United States.
An accompanying graphic released by the department identified Deo as an Indian American public servant and featured both the Indian and American flags alongside her portrait.
