Bhargava joins LMU from Northeastern University's Oakland campus, where she served as associate vice president for planning, real estate, and facilities. She oversaw planning, capital programs, sustainability initiatives, utilities and engineering operations, facilities maintenance, environmental planning, and real estate development across the university's 135-acre campus.
LMU executive vice president and chief operating officer John Kiralla said Bhargava's appointment comes at a significant time as the university seeks to expand and modernize its approach to campus development and facilities management.
According to the university, Bhargava will play a key role in shaping long-term campus planning strategies while supporting LMU's academic mission and future growth.
Before joining Northeastern, Bhargava held leadership positions at Google, the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of California Office of the President. Her work included overseeing complex infrastructure, sustainability, capital development, planning, and seismic resilience projects.
Commenting on her new role, Bhargava said she was honored to join LMU during a period of transformation in higher education and looked forward to contributing to the university's long-term vision.
“As a driver of planning and strategy, I am energized by the visionary future we will co-create with colleagues in the LMU ecosystem. While buildings and infrastructure matter, our work is ultimately about people — creating environments where students, faculty, and staff can thrive,” Bhargava said.
Bhargava holds a master's degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor's degree from the Birla Institute of Technology. She also earned a certificate in commercial real estate from Cornell University and holds credentials as a LEED-Accredited Professional and Certified Project Management Professional.
