In a splendid display of academic dominance by Indian-American students, over a third of the 2026 cohort of The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans trace their roots to India.

The recently announced fellows, 11 Indian-Americans out of the 30 fellows, are among the winners of what the fellowship’s board describes as the “most competitive in the Fellowship’s 28-year history, selected from more than 3,000 applicants—a new record.”
