Hemant Goel to address Georgia Southern University commencement

He will address graduates from the College of Arts and Humanities, Science and Mathematics, Health Professions, and Public Health.

Georgia Southern University has named Indian American healthcare technology leader, Hemant Goel as the commencement speaker for its May 13 graduate ceremony.

Goel, president and CEO of FinThrive, will address graduates from the College of Arts and Humanities, College of Science and Mathematics, Waters College of Health Professions and the Jiann-Ping Hsu College of Public Health at the Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro.

Under Goel’s leadership, FinThrive—a Plano, Texas-based healthcare financial software company—supports more than 4,000 hospitals and clinics across the United States and employs nearly 2,000 people in the U.S. and India. The company helps healthcare systems recover billions in insurance reimbursements and processes more than $6 billion in claims annually.

Prior to joining FinThrive, Goel served as CEO of Capsule Technologies, a global leader in critical care device connectivity. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his team developed a remote ventilator surveillance software that was provided free to hospitals, earning recognition with a “Healthcare Heroes” award.

Goel and his wife Barbara have supported numerous philanthropic efforts, including scholarships for underrepresented students and initiatives promoting STEM education. They have also contributed to community health programs and global disaster relief.

Following his 1985 graduation from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur with a mechanical engineering degree, Goel emigrated to the US. He earned an MBA from Queens University of Charlotte in 1992.
