U.S. Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (VA-10) said Cerina Fairfax “was a kind, wonderful woman who was beloved by those who knew her,” adding he was “shocked by this horrible act of violence.” He extended condolences to her children and family.
Subramanyam also highlighted the broader issue of domestic violence, stating it remains “far too common in our society” and urging those at risk to seek help through the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

Domestic violence is far…
Current Virginia Lieutenant Governor Ghazala Hashmi, in a statement said, “Virginia woke up this morning to the devastating news regarding Dr. Cerina Fairfax and former Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax. My thoughts are with their children, loved ones, and numerous friends. Along with so many in the Commonwealth, I am filled with sorrow; I await further insights from our law enforcement officials.”

Police said the couple’s two teenage children were present in the home at the time, and one of them called 911, officials said.
Authorities indicated the violence may have been connected to a “messy divorce” and recent legal developments in the case, with Fairfax having been served court documents ahead of a scheduled hearing.
Cerina Fairfax was a practicing dentist, and the couple had been married for nearly two decades before separating but continuing to live in the same residence.
Justin Fairfax was once considered a rising Democratic figure before his career was derailed by past controversies.
