The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) congratulated Ambassador Sergio Gor on his Senate confirmation as the next US Ambassador to India and Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs.
Calling his appointment “timely and decisive,” USISPF said Ambassador Gor “joins the ranks of storied US Ambassadors to India such as John Kenneth Galbraith, Daniel P. Moynihan, Frank G. Wisner II, Kenneth I. Juster, and Richard R. Verma, all vital architects of the US-India relationship that has stood the test of time for nearly 80 years.”

The forum added that with the confirmations of Ambassador Gor and Assistant Secretary Kapur, it looks forward to progress on trade, technology cooperation, energy partnership, and education ties, while expressing hope for the confirmation of the Quad Leaders’ Summit later this year to further strengthen the personal and strategic bonds between the two nations.
Mukesh Aghi, president and chief executive officer of USISPF, said the appointment of Gor “signals to New Delhi that the US-India relationship is a top priority for the administration and the region, and together, through the right diplomatic channels, we can iron out the creases and reach consensus.”
Aghi also praised Dr. Kapur, noting, “In Kapur, we have a stellar academic and a South Asia scholar who is second to none in understanding the security of the region and New Delhi’s concerns vis-à-vis Beijing and Islamabad.”
USISPF reiterated its commitment to advancing the bilateral partnership in trade, innovation, clean energy, defense, and education. The forum said it remains aligned with the President’s economic agenda and looks forward to working closely with Ambassador Gor in New Delhi and Assistant Secretary Kapur in Washington.
Ambassador Gor, who previously served as Director of Presidential Personnel in the White House, was confirmed by a Senate vote of 51–47.
During his confirmation hearing, he stated that the United States and India were “not that far apart” on trade issues and emphasized India’s importance as a democratic and strategic counterweight to China in the Indo-Pacific.
Kapur, a respected academic and South Asia specialist who previously taught at Claremont McKenna College, brings decades of experience in regional security and foreign policy and is expected to deepen Washington’s strategic dialogue with New Delhi.
