According to USIBC, discussions focused on strengthening Tamil Nadu's position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing, innovation, healthcare and technology-led growth. Participants also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration between industry and government to support long-term economic development and investment.
USIBC said the roundtable reflected a shared commitment among stakeholders to expand commercial engagement and strengthen bilateral business ties between India and the United States.
The meeting was organized as part of the USIBC Great States Initiative, which seeks to facilitate direct engagement between American companies and Indian state governments. Through the initiative, USIBC aims to promote investment opportunities, encourage business partnerships and support state-level economic cooperation.
Founded in 1975 and operating under the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, USIBC represents more than 200 American and Indian companies across sectors including technology, healthcare, manufacturing, energy and financial services.
Tamil Nadu has emerged as one of India's leading investment destinations, supported by its manufacturing base, skilled workforce and established infrastructure network. The state is a major centre for automobiles, electronics, telecommunications and emerging semiconductor investments, and has increasingly positioned itself as a destination for advanced manufacturing and technology-led industries.
The participation of senior state officials and representatives from Guidance Tamil Nadu, the state's investment promotion agency, highlighted ongoing efforts to attract international investment and strengthen partnerships with global companies.
The Chennai engagement follows a series of USIBC discussions across India focused on expanding commercial cooperation. Recent engagements have included discussions on U.S.-India defence cooperation, meetings with state leaders and outreach on sectors such as energy, critical minerals and renewable technologies.
USIBC said it looks forward to building on the discussions held in Chennai and advancing opportunities for collaboration between industry and government through future engagements.
