US ambassador to India Eric Garcetti celebrated Thanksgiving by acknowledging the strong bonds between the United States and India, particularly in the agri-food sector.
Speaking at a gathering with members of the Indian business community, Garcetti emphasized the importance of friendship and collaboration.
“This Thanksgiving, I’m especially grateful for the US India agri-food business community—farmers, growers, and all those working to put food on our tables. Together, we’re cultivating stronger bonds and expanding exchanges,” said Garcetti.
Reflecting on the holiday’s spirit of gratitude, he added, “I’m so grateful, first and foremost, for friendship. Friendship between our nations, friendship between our peoples, friendship in my family, and among my friends.”
Entrepreneurs from India’s food and agriculture sectors also shared their reflections on the occasion. Dinika Bhatia, co-founder of Nutty Gritties, expressed her appreciation for her homeland, saying, “I’m really grateful for my country.” Achintya Anand, founder of Krishi Cress, highlighted the role of personal connections, saying, “This year, I’m grateful for friends and family, and for all the travel I had this year.”
Kazim Samandari, founder and ceo of L’Opéra Bakery, remarked on the holiday’s essence: “The idea of Thanksgiving is to be grateful for everything we have been blessed with.”
A community member at the event shared their favorite Thanksgiving tradition, saying, “My favorite Thanksgiving food is definitely the cranberry sauce because I love the tart and sweet flavor, and it goes so well with savory food.”
Concluding the gathering, Garcetti offered a toast, encouraging everyone to embrace the spirit of the season by celebrating friendship, the enduring bond between the US and India, and the unifying power of food to inspire and nourish for the future.
