US President Donald J. Trump’s meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and top European leaders at the White House on Aug. 18 underscored what participants described as a turning point in efforts to end the three-and-a-half-year-old conflict in Ukraine.
World leaders repeatedly credited Trump with reopening channels of dialogue and breaking the deadlock with Russia.
