Arjun Mody testifies before the Senate Finance Committee during his confirmation hearing for Deputy Commissioner of Social Security / Screengrab from broadcast of the hearing
President Donald Trump’s nominee for Deputy Commissioner of Social Security, Arjun Mody, pledged to deliver “premier service and pristine controls” across the vast federal agency, framing his mission as one of “service and control” during his confirmation hearing this week.
Mody, a longtime Senate staffer and senior aide to Senator John Barrasso, told lawmakers he viewed the Social Security Administration (SSA) as the foundation of the nation’s promise to its people — from the first card issued to a child to the final benefit received by a family after a death. “President Trump has been strong and straightforward about Social Security — preserve and protect the promise for every eligible American,” he said. “If confirmed, I will carry that charge,” he told lawmakers during his confirmation hearing held by the Senate Finance Committee.
