Indian American attorney and Democrat hopeful for New York’s next state comptroller’s office, Raj Goyle, led a campaign effort in New York City, talking to people who had reached Madison Square Garden for Punjabi pop star Diljit Dosanjh's concert.
Dosanjh recently performed at the iconic Madison Square Garden as part of his Aura World Tour 2026, further cementing his status as one of the biggest global Punjabi music stars.
The back-to-back concerts on May 24 and 25 drew massive crowds, with fans celebrating his high-energy performances, Punjabi music and cross-cultural appeal.
Dosanjh’s appearance at Madison Square Garden marked another milestone in his international career, highlighting the growing mainstream popularity of Punjabi music and Indian artists on global stages.
Goyle approached the attendees and acknowledged the achievement of the Indian singer and highlighted the achievement of the city's Indian-origin mayor, Zohran Mamdani.
Talking about the show, Goyle said, "Behind me here at the Garden, Diljit, selling out the Garden two nights in a row. Unimaginable for me."

He continued, "When I was growing up to think that a turban Punjabi Sikh could sell out the Garden, 50,000 tickets two nights in a row. But it's true.
"And that's New York. It's a great night in the city."
Goyle then asked attendees about the city's first South Asian mayor, Mamdani. The attendees hailed Mamdani's work and highlighted the significance of the representation Mamdani brings to U.S. politics.
He further asked, "How about we elect the first South Asian statewide and you're looking at him? I'm running for a job called the state comptroller."
Highlighting the significance of the office, Goyle pointed out that the comptroller's office has the power to lower utility bills, help young people in combating the AI crisis and tackle the affordability crisis.
Goyle also described the upcoming elections as an opportunity to "knock out" incumbent Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli from office.
He has previously served in the Kansas House of Representatives from 2007 to 2011, where he was one of the youngest members elected.
Goyle is also a co-founder of Indian American Impact, an organization focused on increasing political representation within the community.
As the state’s chief financial officer, he hopes to focus on fixing what he calls New York’s broken financial system. He said his top priority would be investing state funds within New York rather than across the U.S. and overseas.
