FBI arrests Harmanveer Singh in California
He is accused of participating in a cross-border cocaine and methamphetamine trafficking conspiracy.

Harmanveer Singh, who had been wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in connection with an alleged transnational drug trafficking network, was arrestedon July 22, in Stockton, California, by officers with the California Highway Patrol, according to the FBI's Los Angeles field office.
The arrest was announced in a post on the FBI Los Angeles X account, which identified Singh as a fugitive wanted for his alleged role in a criminal organization operating across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

According to the FBI, Singh faces charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, conspiracy to export controlled substances, and possession with intent to distribute controlled substances.
The FBI alleged that Singh was associated with the Ravinder Dhanda Organized Crime Group, which it described as a Vancouver, Canada-based organization involved in trafficking large quantities of cocaine and methamphetamine.
According to the agency, the group allegedly smuggled bulk quantities of narcotics for drug trafficking organizations operating throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The FBI said additional information would be released later but had not provided further details at the time of the announcement.
Singh's arrest follows an earlier FBI wanted notice issued as part of Operation Hard Ball, a coordinated international law enforcement investigation that New India Abroad previously reported on.
According to that earlier report, Operation Hard Ball resulted in the arrest of 24 individuals allegedly linked to three India-based transnational organized crime groups. One of the indictments charged Ravinder Singh Dhanda and 10 others with operating an international drug trafficking network that allegedly transported hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and methamphetamine each week from Southern California into Canada.
Investigators alleged that the organization concealed narcotics inside long-haul commercial trucks, including agricultural vehicles, to move shipments across the international border.

The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, the Los Angeles Police Department, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and other U.S. and Canadian partners.
The FBI's wanted poster for Singh, which was updated after his arrest, lists the same federal charges cited in the agency's social media announcement and now identifies his status as "Captured."
Authorities have not released additional biographical information about Singh, including his age, immigration status or place of residence. The FBI also has not announced details regarding his initial court appearance, legal representation or whether he remains in federal custody.
The agency has not disclosed additional information about the ongoing investigation or whether further arrests are expected.
