New York State Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar has announced that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority's (MTA) OMNY Card Van will visit South Queens on July 30, offering residents in-person assistance with fare-related services, including reduced-fare applications, MetroCard balance transfers and OMNY account support.
According to a post on Rajkumar's official X account, the outreach event is intended to make transit services more accessible by bringing MTA staff directly into the community.

The event will take place at Rajkumar's district office, located at 83-91 Woodhaven Blvd., Woodhaven, NY 11421. According to the event flyer, no reservation is required, and services will be provided on a walk-in basis.
Announcing the initiative on X, Rajkumar wrote, "Government should meet people where they are," adding that she was bringing the MTA's OMNY Card Van directly to South Queens to assist residents with reduced-fare applications, MetroCard balance transfers, OMNY support and related transit services.
She added that "Opportunity should always be within reach," using the hashtags #OpportunityForAll and #LoveOverHate.
According to the flyer, attendees will be able to apply for reduced-fare eligibility or receive assistance completing an application. MTA staff will also help residents sign up for OMNY, the agency's contactless fare payment system, answer questions about the program and troubleshoot OMNY-related issues.
The outreach event will also allow riders to transfer any remaining value from full-fare or reduced-fare MetroCards onto OMNY cards. In addition, visitors will be able to add money directly to their OMNY cards during the event.
The flyer notes that the mobile sales van will process credit card transactions only for OMNY purchases.
Residents seeking additional information were directed to contact Rajkumar's district office by phone at (718) 805-0950 or by email at rajkumarj@nyassembly.gov, according to the flyer.

OMNY, short for One Metro New York, is the MTA's contactless fare payment system that has been gradually replacing MetroCards across New York City's subway and bus network. As part of the transition, the MTA has deployed mobile outreach vans across the city to help riders, particularly seniors, people with disabilities and others enrolled in reduced-fare programs, switch to the new payment system and resolve account issues.
Rajkumar represents New York's 38th Assembly District, which includes parts of South Queens. She has frequently highlighted constituent services and transit accessibility as priorities during her time in office and has partnered with city agencies on community outreach initiatives aimed at improving access to public services.
The event announcement did not specify eligibility requirements for reduced-fare enrollment, advising residents to visit the OMNY Card Van for application assistance and program information.
