“Lata has shaped what AIF stands for today: leadership development, rooted in local solutions, global collaboration, and a steadfast belief in the power of giving as both a responsibility and cultural identity,” AIF said.
A prominent Silicon Valley technology entrepreneur, private investor, and philanthropist, Krishnan has experience in finance and business management, as well as in scaling both profit and non-profit entities.
She started her career in finance and accounting at Arthur Andersen in the UK and Montgomery Securities in San Francisco.
Krishnan later went on to launch Smart Modular Technologies, a company she led as chief financial officer through a public offering. Privately she co-founded Shah Capital Partners, which invests in high-growth opportunities in tech, medical devices, and real estate.
Additionally, Krishnan serves on several boards including the Stanford Healthcare Board (SHC), Accion Opportunity Fund and is a fellow of the American Leadership Forum. She is also a senior advisory board member of the London School of Economics, South Asia Centre.
“As we honor Lata, we also celebrate the generational duty of leadership to shape the next generation of changemakers by example,” AIF said.
AIF is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to catalyzing social and economic change in India. Founded in 2001 at the initiative of former U.S. President Bill Clinton and former Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it serves as a philanthropic bridge between the world's two largest democracies.
