NAIO mulls creation of unified national platform for Indian Americans

Indian American leaders discussed membership commitments, with several founding members confirming full membership and others opting for structured installment plans.

The National Alliance of Indian Organizations (NAIO) is planning to establish a single national platform for Americans of Indian origin to enhance coordination on community engagement, advocacy, and Indo-U.S. relations.

The organization discussed the plan on Jan. 31 during its Founders and Leadership Meeting in New York. The meeting held at the Hyatt Centric, Wall Street, brought together Indian American leaders and organization heads from across the United States, both in person and virtually.

The session opened with Naveen Shah welcoming attendees and underlining the need for collective leadership and coordination. A detailed presentation by him covered NAIO’s mission, organizational structure, branding, and planned activities, including an India Independence Day celebration on Aug. 15, 2026, and a National Convention scheduled for July 4, 2027.

Raj Bhayani, founding leader of NAIO, outlined the organization's core objectives, including uniting Americans of Indian origin under one platform, strengthening community empowerment through collaboration, and advancing Indo-U.S. engagement.

Chintu Patel traced the organization’s formation, citing the growing need for nationwide coordination as the community expands in size and influence. Harry Singh Bolla highlighted the importance of measurable outcomes and accountable leadership in sustaining the organization’s credibility and impact.

Strategic inputs were provided by senior leaders Dipak Nandi, Navin Mehta, Danny Gaekwad, and Bharat Barai, who offered recommendations on governance structures, initiatives, and future programs. 

Discussions also addressed membership commitments, with several founding members confirming full membership and others opting for structured installment plans. Youth engagement and next-generation leadership formed a key part of the agenda, with CoHNA president Nikunj Trivedi and student leaders from Rutgers University discussing challenges faced by Indian students on U.S. campuses and potential avenues for nationwide student coordination and advocacy.

NAIO leadership announced that the next founders, trustees, and Alliance Leadership Meeting will be held on March 8, 2026, at the Marriott in Uniondale, Long Island. The meeting concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to inclusivity, transparency, and building a unified national voice for Americans of Indian origin.

The National Alliance of Indian Organizations (NAIO) is a national umbrella body aimed at bringing together Indian American organizations, professionals, youth, and community leaders on a common platform to support coordination, advocacy, and engagement related to Indo-U.S. relations.
