Indian consulate holds OCI outreach event in Houston
Consular officials offered detailed information on OCI application forms, required documentation and frequently raised issues related to the application process.

The Consulate General of India in Houston hosted a special consular information session on Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) applications on May 30 at the consulate, providing guidance to members of the Indian diaspora on application procedures and documentation requirements.
The session was part of the consulate's ongoing outreach efforts to provide consular information and services to the community. Consular officials offered detailed information on OCI application forms, required documentation and frequently raised issues related to the application process.
Participants were also given an opportunity to seek clarifications directly from consular officials regarding OCI-related matters. The consulate said the session aimed to help applicants better understand requirements and procedures associated with OCI applications.

The Consulate General D.C. Manjunath thanked community leaders who attended the event and supported the outreach initiative.
The consulate also noted that updated OCI instructions are available for individuals who were unable to attend the session. The guidance includes information on OCI card reissuance requirements after a cardholder turns 20, online update provisions applicable to other age groups and timelines for linking an OCI card with a new passport.
According to the consulate, individuals seeking additional clarification may submit questions through a QR code provided in the updated OCI information flyer.
The Overseas Citizen of India program provides eligible foreign nationals of Indian origin with lifelong visa-free travel to India and certain other benefits, subject to applicable rules and regulations. The Houston consulate regularly conducts outreach programs and information sessions to address consular matters affecting members of the Indian diaspora in its jurisdiction.
