Community celebrations in Concord NC / Handout
Members of the Indian diaspora gathered in Concord, North Carolina, to mark the foundation days of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP), with a community event that combined reflection, cultural elements, and discussions on civic engagement.
The event brought together volunteers and NRI supporters, opening with a ceremonial lamp lighting led by the OFBJP women’s teamled by Triza Bliss, followed by a rendition of Vande Mataram by a young attendee Aryaneel Kaushik. Participants also observed a moment of remembrance for victims of the Pahalgam terror attacks, marking the anniversary with a brief tribute.

Galab Kaushik, serving as emcee, welcomed attendees, while senior volunteers including Naynesh Dave and Rohit Prasad spoke about the role of OFBJP in connecting with the Indian diaspora and addressing community concerns. Speakers highlighted the organization’s efforts in amplifying NRI voices and fostering engagement with developments in India.
A documentary on Syama Prasad Mukherjee traced the early ideological foundations of the movement, including his role in establishing the Bharatiya Jana Sangh. The program also featured a recorded message from BJP president Nitin Nabin, encouraging volunteers to remain committed to public service and community values.
Addressing the gathering, Aravind Modini, a member of the OFBJP national team, reflected on the historical growth of the BJP, from its early years to its current political standing. He also referenced the philosophy of Deendayal Upadhyaya, particularly the concept of Integral Humanism, as a guiding principle for inclusive development.
Community discussions also touched on political developments in West Bengal, with speakers Sekhar Naskar and Manoj Basuri sharing perspectives on regional issues and governance.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Sachin Kumar, followed by a community dinner. Several local community leaders attended or extended their support, ncluding Vimal Patel, Shyam Padamati, Triza Bliss, Ulkesh Desai, Varun Patel, Srikanth Padala, Niketh Saini, Amit Thawait, and Sakshi and Sudhanshu Kulshreshtha, reflecting the continued engagement of diaspora groups in cultural and civic discussions related to India.
