The Heramba Art and Culture Center in collaboration with Prayog Natya Sanstha organized “Beyond Understanding,” a dramatic reading of hindi plays in Edison, New Jersey.

Hosted by Abhishek Mishra at his home under a tent, the program featured dramatic readings rather than full stage performances, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session with the audience.

The group read three plays, all written by Ashok Vyas, a New York-based poet, Hindu priest, television host, and creator of the YouTube channel HerambaStudio.

The first play, “Agyat Ka Bhay”, or ‘the Fear of the Unknown’, follows a disillusioned man battling meaninglessness and suicidal thoughts. A visit to the Mishra residence, combined with mysterious events at the home, helps him regain hope. The play examines the boundary between coincidence and divine grace. Abhishek and Namita Mishra led the reading along with other artists attending the event playing different roles.

The next play, “Mystical Chai” is a spiritual suspense story set in the era of social media and AI. It centers on a young New Jersey man’s devotion to the Mother Goddess and questions the nature of truth and possibility.

The final play of the event, titled “Chief Controller”, is a story centered on faith, divine protection, and the impact of advanced AI and technology on human conviction. It features tech company founders, one of whom believes he is protected by a Rajasthan folk deity, Gala Bhomiya ji.

The event also served as the soft launch of the New York-based Heramba Art and Culture Center, which has been active through HerambaStudio in promoting dharmic, spiritual, and mental health content.

Abhishek Mishra welcomed the guests, many of whom were passionate Hindi lovers. Ameeya Mehta shared insights into the journey of the New Jersey-based Prayog Natya Sanstha. Vineeta Khanna, founder of Orator Academy, enchanted the audience with a bhajan dedicated to Sant Kabir and a ghazal performance.

The event was attended by prominent community members including Parveen Chopra, founder of ALotusInTheMud.com; yoga exponent Vijay Trivedi; Pradeep Agarwal of Vishwa Hindi Nyas; Raj Mittal of Hindi USA; Dr. Om Sharma, founder of GICA Hanuman Mandir; and Ashok Ojha, Program Director of Yuva Hindi Sansthan.

Concluding the event, Namita Mishra thanked the playwright Ashok Vyas, the director, all participating artists, and the audience for making the event memorable.

Several guests took the opportunity to visit the Mishra residence and witness the remarkable signs of what many described as divine imprints, directly connecting with the “Beyond Understanding” theme in a personal way.
