An Indian-origin investor and founder of Indian American Advocacy Council, Sidharth, has stoked controversy after he asked Indians not to migrate to the west and build in India.
The investor hailed India's talent and said that the West wants to recruit Indians only because "Indian talent is the envy of the world."
Calling Indians a global asset, he added, "That’s why they recruit you. That’s why they obsess over you. That’s why they try to reduce you to a visa number, because it’s easier than admitting the truth."
He advised Indian students to not worry about Visas or immigration narratives but instead focus on building products, companies and IPs.
The post invited heavy criticism from Indians and Americans alike. Many asked Sidharth to return to India and build in India and others argued that he was merely eliminating competition.
Sandeep Manudhane, an IIT Delhi alumnus reacted sharply to the post and described Sidharth as someone who "Stays in the US. Pumps Indian young talent as outstanding. Pushes them to not try reaching the US. Eliminates future competition."
Another user confronted him virtually and asked him when he was planning to return home, he responded by saying that he was an American and therefore is already home.
